Why choose The Historic Lowry House's camp?

• We are one of the few camps in Huntsville to provide your child with experts in each field of study that we offer; from drama to music, all are consummate professionals with experience.

• Your child will participate in a WIDE VARIETY of activities which are EDUCATIONAL & FUN!  We designed this camp as if our own children were attending.  We want learning to be incidental- what better way to teach someone than to show them how much fun it is!

What types of activities will my child participate in?

~ Paper Making ~ Paper Marbling ~  Quilt Making ~  Folk Music ~  The Art of the Folk Tale ~  Creative Writing
Theater Production ~  Story Telling  ~   Native American Drum Making

At the Lowry House campers will discover the house’s history and connection with the Underground Railroad and Huntsville’s role in early medicine. They will also have the opportunity to explore the history and architecture that make Huntsville such a fascinating place to live. Day excursions include trips to local museums (included in cost).

At the heart of our camp is the sense of community. Daily, campers will help prepare snacks for their group, they will also hear from different community leaders and not-for-profit directors about ways they can help build a stronger community. The point is driven home with a collection drive to benefit Christmas Charities Year Round and their mobile clothing closet that helps thousands of children each year.

Parents have two options for lunch for their child, they may either bring their own, or purchase a lunch pass from the house. Lunch Passes cost an additional $20 for the week; each meal is a healthy and balanced meal including fresh, locally sourced ingredients prepared by a gourmet chef (Vegetarian options available).

On Friday evening campers will present their theatrical productions, art projects and quilt they have made with family and friends. A pot luck meal, along with food the campers have learned to prepare is provided.
